These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of HelloPlayer2, a service operated by Similar LLC ("HelloPlayer2," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Who can use HelloPlayer2
HelloPlayer2 is for adults aged 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher. By using the service you represent that you meet this requirement. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account, and we will close accounts we believe belong to minors.
During the beta, HelloPlayer2 is offered to adults in the United States who will speak English with their companion. We may decline or end beta access for accounts that do not meet these conditions.
2. What your player two is
HelloPlayer2 gives you a companion to talk with and do things with: an AI character created and operated by HelloPlayer2. Your companion is software, not a person. Their voice, personality, memory of you, job, and life story are generated by artificial intelligence using character designs we create, together with safety and moderation systems we run.
You acknowledge that AI responses are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, inconsistent, or fictional; that your companion is not a human and that any persona, backstory, or emotional expression is fictional; and that HelloPlayer2 does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice. If you are in crisis or need professional help, contact a qualified professional or local emergency services. In the United States you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
3. The free beta: research participation
While HelloPlayer2 is in beta, access is free and is offered in exchange for research participation. This means we record your conversations, game sessions, ratings, and written feedback; we use them to operate, evaluate, improve, and train the product, including training AI models; and beta features may change, break, or be withdrawn at any time. If you do not agree to this use, do not use the beta.
4. Private by design: no public content, no user-to-user contact
You interact only with your companion. Members do not interact with one another, and you cannot post, publish, stream, or distribute content to other members or to the public through the service. What you say to your companion is used to operate the service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy, and is not published.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use the service to generate, request, or attempt to elicit:
- any sexual content involving minors or anyone depicted as a minor. Child sexual abuse material is absolutely prohibited and will be reported to authorities, including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, as required by law;
- content that sexualizes, grooms, or endangers children in any form;
- content depicting real or identifiable people, including public figures and people you know, without their documented consent, including sharing a photo of anyone other than yourself who has not agreed to it;
- content that promotes violence, terrorism, self-harm, or human trafficking;
- harassment, threats, or hate directed at any person or group;
- any other content or conduct that is illegal under applicable law.
You also may not attempt to bypass our safety or content controls; reverse engineer, scrape, or attack the service; use the service for any unlawful purpose; impersonate others; or use automated tools to access the service except as we expressly permit.
We may monitor for safety and compliance, block or filter prohibited material, and suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice.
6. Accounts
You are responsible for your sign-in credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current, and tell us promptly about any unauthorized use. Your HelloPlayer2 account is a Similar LLC account; the Privacy Policy explains how it works across the services Similar LLC operates.
7. Price
HelloPlayer2 is free during the beta, and no payment method is required. If we introduce paid plans, the price and billing terms will be shown to you before you pay, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.
8. Intellectual property
The service, the companions, the games, the software, and all related content are owned by Similar LLC or its licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, resell, or commercially exploit the service or its content.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that AI output will be accurate, appropriate, uninterrupted, or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Similar LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or fifty US dollars.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Similar LLC from claims arising out of your misuse of the service or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
12. Ending things
We may suspend or end your access at any time for violation of these Terms or for risk, safety, or legal reasons. You may stop using the service at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing the address below.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date will change, and material changes will be communicated as required by law. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be handled in New York unless applicable law requires otherwise.
